Judith P Broderick, also known as Bestemor Claus, became an active Mrs. Claus to Santa Bill Wilson almost 14 years ago. She and Bill volunteer much of their time with local food pantries, Alzheimer units, children with special needs and veteran hospitals. They started Wisconsin Santas and Judi is the IBRBS representative. They attend numerous Santa gatherings every year and are graduates of 6 different Santa Schools. Judi was a hospice CNA and “in home caregiver” from 1988-2012. In 2009, she got her Bachelor’s Degree in public health emphasizing nutrition and child advocacy. In 2018 she and Deanna Golden launched the school, Santa Nana’s Holiday University – a unique one of a kind school emphasizing the female performer. An avid researcher, she is constantly looking for ways to improve her skills and apply this knowledge to the school and those she mentors. Often wearing her heart on her sleeve and knowing that life can be difficult, she tries to add a bit of humor to all her classes. PS. If you need a hug, just ask. |
Kristie Covic of Costumemagic.com (formerly Harlequin Costume) has been working with Santas and Mrs. Claus since Santa Gordon Bailey walked into her store in 1995 and ordered his first professional Santa Suit. Shortly after that Kristie joined Santa Gordon in becoming Mrs. Claus and a Face painting Elf. She attended Tim Connaghan’s first class at UCLA; she was referenced in the first edition of Behind the Red Suit by Tim Connaghan. She attended the First Convention in Branson, MO, and the first in Gatlinburg, TN. She has worked with Santas in home visits, corporate parties, and Malls. She has also worked solo as a Crafty Mrs. Claus and Face Painting Mrs. Claus/Elf. The first class of Santa and the Business of being Santa was held in Kristie’s store. She has gone on to teach several classes with Santa Gordon Bailey and Santa Bob McMasters, with the Business of being Santa, giving a Mrs. Claus Class at Lone Star Santa Roundup and her own classes, On Being Mrs. Claus, in Honey Grove, Texas. Kristie has also been building suits and outfits for Santa & Mrs. Claus for over 30 years. Working with hundreds of Santas and Mrs. Claus has given her the opportunity to learn about the behind-the-scenes struggles and solutions that come with being a Christmas performer. From first-time Santas to long-time professionals, Kristie Covic has had the unique opportunity to be a Performer, a Designer, and a Teacher, telling her Christmas story in person and through her designs. |
Since 2014, Deanna has portrayed Mrs. Anna Claus, sharing her joy and always remembering the reason for the season. Committed to developing her craft, she has attended several Christmas conferences, workshops, and schools. Also committed to doing her part to grow fellow Clauses and supporters, Deanna is principal owner and instructor of Santa Nana’s Holiday University, the first school focused on the female performer. She has been invited to present at major Christmas conferences, and has been interviewed for both television and print media.
